VR3 with Underwater Modem (VR3-UWM)

The VR3-UWM has an integral underwater modem. Communication with and control of the unit is accomplished through a PC connected to a companion surface unit.

• Improved data logging capacity over VR2 – four times non volatile memory capacity (8 Mbytes) as well as "store by exception" scheme which optimizes memory use



• Remote communication by acoustic modem which allows the unit to be accessed through companion Surface Unit and data uploaded to a PC on ship positioned over the unit:



• Data Transfer Rate 1200 Baud


• Slant range up to 350 metres


• Vemco supplied PC Software allows full configuration of unit, monitoring of status as well as uploading of data


• Internal tilt sensor allows monitoring during deployment to ensure proper positioning on sea floor



• An RS-232 Service port (9600) is available for configuring the unit prior to deployment. In addition to the functionality provided through the acoustic modem, software upgrades can also be installed through this port.
