Researchers Gather in Halifax for VEMCO Days

Fifteen marine researchers and scientists from around the world converged on Halifax, Nova Scotia from August 22nd to 24th to participate in the 2nd annual VEMCO Days hosted by VEMCO Division of AMIRIX Systems Inc.

The main purpose of the event was to give users of VEMCO products the opportunity to learn more about acoustic telemetry technology and VEMCO products in general. It also enabled researchers to share information about their projects and challenges as well as offer input into the future direction of VEMCO product development.

The agenda featured an overview of VEMCO's 69kHz Acoustic Telemetry network, a demonstration and use of VUE (VEMCO User Environment) - VEMCO's new PC receiver software - and a presentation of VEMCO's product roadmap. Attendees also participated in a Researchers Roundtable where each researcher was given the opportunity to present on their own projects. A facility tour rounded out the agenda.

VEMCO Days is an integral part of our R&D program which brings together VEMCO's engineering and technical staff with some of the world's leading researchers. This collaboration enables us to manufacture the most sophisticated equipment available today designed with a thorough understanding of the application and its users.

Based on the success of this event, VEMCO Days is going on the road. We anticipate that in 2008 we will host several workshops worldwide. Stay tuned for further details on locations and times.
