IMPORTANT! Upgrade to MAP-112 - New Standard World Wide Code MAP

As discussed in our March and July newsletters, VEMCO has introduced a new Worldwide Code MAP, MAP-112. Code MAPS determine the type of tags that can be detected and recorded by VEMCO receivers. VEMCO, starting this year, is phasing in several new code types to allow for vastly more unique sensor IDs as well as virtually unlimited unique pinger IDs. Users are encouraged to update their VR2Ws as soon as possible to be ready for the new tag types well in advance of their general sale. Instructions for updating your VR2W with new firmware, software and Code MAP-112, can be found on the VEMCO VR2W Support web page.

All new VEMCO receivers shipped since May 2009 have been configured at the factory with MAP-112. As noted previously, VR2 receivers cannot be upgraded to MAP-112. MAP-110 continues to be the standard map for VR2s. For users with a combination of VR2s and VR2Ws, please ensure your VR2s are set to MAP-110 and VR2Ws to MAP-112 unless otherwise directed by your VEMCO sales representative. MAP-112 is configured to detect all existing VEMCO tags in addition to the new tags being introduced. (Note MAP-112 does not detect R256 tags as these are no longer sold by VEMCO).

VR2 users can still take advantage of our highly discounted VR2 upgrade program. VR2s can be returned to VEMCO and upgraded to a VR2W at a fraction of the price of a new VR2W. Please contact your VEMCO sales representative for more details.
