New Products from VEMCO

VEMCO is pleased to introduce a number of new products that will further enhance researchers' ability to conduct comprehensive and effective studies.

V6 Tag Ideal for Juveniles and Many Species of Small Fish

VEMCO is pleased to introduce its smallest coded tag yet, the V6 high frequency (180 kHz) transmitter.

Just 6mm in diameter, the V6 is the latest addition to VEMCO's family of coded transmitters. At only 0.5 grams in water, the V6 enables researchers to track and monitor juveniles, smaller fish and a broader range of species than ever before!

VEMCO's design philosophy behind the V6 was to provide a miniature tag that would work well in both fresh and salt water. With good performance in all aquatic environments, and flexible programming options to cover the life cycle of some species, the V6 enables you to study animals as they migrate from rivers to the ocean and back.

The V6 tag works with VEMCO's new low cost, high frequency VR2W-180kHz acoustic monitoring receiver.

For more information on our new V6 high frequency transmitter and the VR2W-180 kHz receiver, please contact VEMCO.

Introducing VEMCO's VR2W Positioning System

VEMCO's VR2W Positioning System (VPS) is a low cost, non-real-time underwater acoustic fine-scale positioning system, utilizing the same off-the-shelf equipment used in conventional VR2W-based studies. The system consists of underwater acoustic transmitters and receivers that are deployed by you, and a receiver data processing service provided by VEMCO.

VEMCO will work with you to design a comprehensive system layout in accordance with a precise set of design guidelines. It is imperative that the system be deployed properly to enable the secure capture of the information that is essential for study accuracy and success. Receiver positions can be measured using a handheld GPS unit.

For more information view the VPS datasheet or contact VEMCO.

Underwater Upload Cable for VR2W Now Available

The VR2W underwater upload cable, a 30' long USB-Bluetooth™ underwater cable, is now available. As Bluetooth radio signals do not travel far underwater, this cable provides researchers with a method of retrieving data from VR2Ws without bringing the VR2W to the surface.

Simply plug the cable into the USB port of your computer, the same as you would with our USB Bluetooth device. Have a diver affix the opposite end of the cable by placing the probe in the activation hole of the VR2W. When the probe is inserted, the VR2W will be placed into Bluetooth mode (long flashes will be displayed on the VR2W's LED) and the VR2W will be detected normally
in VUE. Upload data using VUE as you normally would.

Note that the cable needs to be removed and reinserted to start communications a second time.
