AMIRIX-VEMCO Bike Tour Team Raises Over $7,000 for MS Research

The Annual RONA Multiple Sclerosis Bike Tour fundraising event for Nova Scotia was held the weekend of July 26th and 27th and for the seventh year running, the AMIRIX-VEMCO Bike Tour team was raring to go. The 2008 team consisted of 12 members who joined scores of other cyclists from across Nova Scotia and cycled the almost 100km trip from Windsor to Wolfville and back to raise money for multiple sclerosis research.

The AMIRIX-VEMCO team raised over $7,000 for MS research and placed in the top ten for team fundraising. In total, bike teams from Nova Scotia raised over $½-million in 2008 - its best year since the tour's inception!

According to team captain Denise King, "I can't think of a more fun and satisfying way to raise funds for a deserving organization. We spend two days outdoors cycling through one of the most beautiful regions of Nova Scotia all in an atmosphere of incredible camaraderie. You just can't beat that!"

Since first becoming involved with the bike tour in 2002, AMIRIX-VEMCO bike tour teams have raised close to $50,000.

About the RONA MS Bike Tour
The RONA MS Bike Tour is a pledge-based fundraising event that provides Canadians with the opportunity to ride through scenic and often spectacular parts of the country. The Bike Tour began in 1989 and is now one of the MS Society's most important events. In 2007, it raised over $8.2 million, the proceeds of which have gone to fund research in the search for a cure and vital services for people currently living with MS.
