Since embarking on early retirement, Fred Voegeli, the founder of VEMCO, has been travelling the world, sailing the oceans and spending more time with his family and friends. Over the past few years, Fred has sailed his Mason 44 "Frisco" over 13,000 miles and visited 137 ports. In the summer, Fred always spends time in Nova Scotia and enjoys the annual Tuna Fishing Tournament in September, which his team won in 2006. ![]() ![]() at the 2006 Annual Tuna Fishing Tournament in Nova Scotia. Fred's non-sailing adventures have included treks to New Zealand, China, Philippines, Thailand, Cambodia, Costa Rica, Mexico and several Caribbean countries. His upcoming trip to Tanzania will include a photography safari and a visit to Mount Kilimanjaro. Yet Fred still finds time to make valuable contributions to VEMCO, the company he launched almost 30 years ago and built from the ground up. As a member of VEMCO's Board of Directors, Fred is still very much involved in making strategic decisions about VEMCO's growth plans and future product developments. When asked recently what he thought about VEMCO's latest product offerings, he could barely contain his enthusiasm about VEMCO's VR2W Positioning System (VPS). "I would venture to say that the development of the VPS for fine scale positioning is absolutely revolutionary," remarked Fred. "In fact, I believe it is the most exciting product to come out of VEMCO since the introduction of the VR2 receiver." Perhaps a VPS-like system would come in handy when trying to keep tabs on Fred!
