Doug Dorey has been employed with VEMCO since 1995 and has a Machine Shop diploma from Nova Scotia Community College as well as a Computer Machine Shop diploma from the Nova Scotia Institute of Technology. Doug's primary responsibilities include building prototypes, inspecting parts, and developing production parts and jigs. He frequently lends a hand to customer support by repairing products and designing test jigs. As boat maintenance, operation and navigation also come under Doug's domain, he provides valuable assistance to R&D when performing ocean field tests aboard VEMCO's boat, DOLPHI. Having the ability to test our equipment in end use environments, along with Doug's skills at DOLPHI's helm, ensures VEMCO products will perform reliably and accurately to specification.
Doug's creativity and versatility seem to know no bounds. When the company's display booth was shipped home from a tradeshow, it arrived without its wheels making it impossible to maneuver. Doug came to the rescue, machined new wheels and installed them on the booth case saving the company several hundred dollars in the process! When Doug's not in the office, he can typically be found communing with nature. As an avid outdoor enthusiast, Doug spends his spare time kayaking, hiking, ATVing, fishing and snowshoeing.
