- VII International Congress on the Biology of Fish, St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada Symposium, July 18-22, 2006:
Dale Webber of VEMCO is organizing the symposium on Advances in Telemetry: Tracking Fish in Nature. This symposium will focus on studies that use telemetry techniques to investigate aspects of fish biology, from individual behaviours to population dynamics. Many fundamental questions about the life history of fish are still unknown, and telemetry holds great promise in identifying human impacts on species and ensuring their survival. We invite all researchers who use telemetry to study aspects of fish biology to share their findings and experiences. We will explore a wide variety of research applications, new sensor technology, and data analysis techniques that reveal how fish use their three-dimensional world. VEMCO will also be exhibiting at the event. Visit us at Booth 3. More information...
- Australian Society for Fish Biology "Cutting Edge Technologies in Fish and Fisheries Sciences" Workshop, August 28-September 1, 2006, Hobart, Tasmania, Australia:
The purpose of the workshop is "to showcase and identify cutting edge techniques and technology to enhance Australia's fish and fisheries research capacity". The focus of presentations and theme discussions is toe
outline the relevant technique/technology; identify the application including the information gained, the opportunities presented, and the issues involved; present its current uses; and identify its future needs and directions. VEMCO will also be exhibiting at the event. Once we have our booth assignment from ASFB, we will post it here. More information...
- American Fisheries Society 136th Annual Meeting, September 10-14, 2006, Lake Placid, New York, USA:
This year's annual meeting theme "Fish in the Balance" will explore the interrelation between fish, aquatic habitats and man, as well as highlight challenges facing aquatic resource professionals and the methods that have been employed to resolve conflicts between those that use or have an interest in our aquatic resources. VEMCO will also be exhibiting at the event. Once we have our booth assignment from AFS, we will post it here. More information...
- VEMCO Customer Days, September 21-22, 2006, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada:
This is the first year for VEMCO Customer Days and we plan to turn it into an annual event. Technical elements will include case studies and experiences with equipment and how it's used; discussions on improvements, enhancements and new products; and demonstrations and hands on use of equipment - existing and future. There will also be social aspects and opportunities for tours, golf and
sailing. Travel, accommodation and living expenses are covered by attendees and VEMCO will provide the technical forums and entertainment. Space is extremely limited and the number of registrants will be restricted (first come, first serve basis). Once we have reached capacity, we will place interested parties on a waiting list should any cancellations occur. To register or for additional information, email Nancy Edwards or call 1-866-426-4749 Ext 234.
