Current challenges in the global economy require employers to be more focused on finding and retaining the most talented and productive employees. More than ever, there is a need for companies to create a comprehensive "workplace experience" for employees beyond the standard base pay and benefits. According to Progress Magazine, this year's winners of the Best Places to Work in Atlantic Canada focus on putting "people first". To determine the region's Best Places to Work, Progress Magazine works with Pennsylvania-based Best Companies Group (BCG), a research firm that manages 31 best company programs, 30 in North America and one in Western Australia. Organizations that chose to participate complete BCG's extensive two-part survey, including an organizational overview of each company's policies and procedures and an in-depth employee questionnaire.
