Following is an example of a unique receiver anti-fouling technique used by Polly Rankin and her team at the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife. We have discovered a super easy user tip for keeping deployed receivers clean. I'm sure others may have figured this out, but just in case someone needs a quick, inexpensive solution, here it is. We use 1-mm heat-shrink bags on our receivers. The bags are clear PVC wrap and it takes about 5 seconds with a heat gun to shrink it around the receiver. It shrinks so fast the receiver doesn't get hot at all. Critters don't like to grow on the wrap and one can just cut the wrap off with shears at the end of the study. It's inexpensive and sure beats chipping barnacles off! The bags can be ordered from this site - www.mcmaster.com/#heat-shrink-bags/=e6w8f1.
